Selene restaurant was established in 1986 in Fira, Santorini by Yiorgos and Evelyn Hatziyannakis. Since 2010 Selene restaurant is located in Pyrgos, one of the most beautiful and well-preserved villages of Santorini, built around a medieval castle located in one of the highest points of the island offering magnificent views.

From the very start our aim was to use and promote the local products along with the local cuisine.

“Selene” nowadays is separated in two restaurants:

Selene Restaurant is a fine dining, featuring a creative and authentic menu addressed to those who are willing to explore and enjoy the New Greek Cuisine.

Selene Meze & Wine, is an all day bistro dedicated to the traditional Santorini cuisine enhanced with a touch of modernity.

The success that we have had all those years in Greece and worldwide, led us to continue with cooking lessons, wedding receptions, conferences and special events addressed to foodies and wine experts from all over the word. 

All these years and every year Selene gains various awards, such as the Torque d’ Or, New Greek Cuisine, FnL Awards and First Prize for the Best Greek Wine List.

In 2015 we are proud to announce that Selene has gained the Gold Award as Gastronomic Destination while in 2016 has gained the Gold Award for the Restaurant Concept from the “Tourism Awards”.

THE SELENE EXPERIENCE

Selene Restaurant on the first level of the Cultural Village complex welcomes its guests to an elegant interior dining room resembling the 19th century mansions of Santorini. It features a marvelous cross ceiling architecture, peripheral windows and an impressive chandelier in the center of the room. The spacious terraces are ideal for a romantic and memorable dinner with astonishing views to the major vineyard of Pyrgos and the Aegean Sea.

Our awarded chef, Panos Tsikas, will induce you to the Modern Greek Cuisine, using the unique products of Santorini and various premium products from all over Greece, selected by our team of experts.

The recipes are based on traditional dishes. They are cooked and presented in a creative way, expressing the modernity of the New Greek Cuisine. Actually it is an innovative, new proposal for the Greek Cuisine!

The experience is fulfilled with exceptional wine pairings, proposed by our sommeliers chosen from Selene’s awarded wine list designed by Georgia Tsara, the head sommelier & Restaurant Manager since 2005.

COOKING COURSES & WINE TASTING

Ιn Selene restaurant we have been offering cooking courses for 20 consecutive years. The last 5 years our courses have been enriched with various options regarding cooking classes and wine tasting. By participating in these courses you will gain an in depth knowledge of Greek gastronomy.
